This blog is dedicated to Ron Rivera.

“Potters for Peace mourns the passing of Ron Rivera. Ron was a remarkable human being who left a profound impression on many people worldwide. To a great degree PFP in its present form is a product of Ron’s efforts and wisdom.

He died as he lived, working tirelessly to bring potable water to the poorest of the poor. On a recent filter work trip to Nigeria Ron contracted a severe form of malaria resulting in a heart attack and his death on September 3. ” Potters for Peace website

  1. ron was my dads best friend, they were like brothers and he was like another father to me. When i was 2 we went to visit him and the minute i walked in he said “lets fight!” and being a 2 year old i was thrilled and got into a game of play fighting with him. we have pictures of me standing over him in overalls and a smile on both our faces. Every time i think about him a wave of disbelief washes over me. it just doesn’t seem possible that he’s gone. my dad told me that he had denge fever and that he was probably going to be alright. then next day when i got back from school i came into his office and he broke the news to me. that was one of the worst moments of my life. he acomplished so much in his life and will be remembered by the people he helped and loved for their lives and their childrens lives. He was the greatest man i knew and ever will know.

  2. May Ron’s vision to work for underprivilaged people lives on until there is no single soul that does not have access to clean water. Ron has set an example and paved a way for all of us.
I met Ron many times. I first met him at a workshop on Ceramic filter in Feb, 2004 in Florida. He taught me how to make ceramic pot filter at that workshop. After that we stayed in close contact and got together to discuss about filters few times here in Boston. During his last couple of visit he repeated one sentence many times and that is “Lets make a dent in UN Millennium goal in atleast one developing countries” . His last vist to Solutions Benefiting Life was on May,2008. He was very upbeat as always.

Ron was my mentor. I hope his effort to promote Silvered Ceramic Filter lives on. May Ceramic Pot Filter Man’s soul rest in peace.

    Peace,
